Durban City FC will step into uncharted territory on Tuesday evening when they contest their first KwaZulu-Natal derby in the Betway Premiership, going head-to-head with Golden Arrows at Chatsworth Stadium.

The newly promoted side have enjoyed a solid start to life in the top flight, and midfielder Haashim Domingo believes the team’s unity and work ethic will be vital as they prepare for one of the most anticipated fixtures on the provincial calendar.
Domingo, who has been at the heart of City’s early-season performances, said the team has quickly settled into Premiership football by sticking to the plans of head coach and technical staff.
“We’ve started the campaign well. The big thing for us is to keep that consistency, keep working hard, and build on what’s already working,” Domingo explained.
He credited the group’s mentality as the driving force behind their early momentum.
“We’ve shown resilience and the hunger to fight for results. That winning spirit is what’s helped us so far and it’s something we need to carry into every game.”
Turning his attention to Golden Arrows, Domingo stressed that derbies are always a different challenge — regardless of form or league position.
“Arrows are an experienced team with a quality coach. They play with energy and intensity, so we know it’s going to be tough. But we’ve prepared well and we’ll be ready.”
The midfielder also had a message for Durban City’s growing fanbase ahead of the historic derby.
“We want the fans to come out in numbers and push us on. Their support makes a huge difference. We’ll give everything to make them proud and, hopefully, we can reward them with three points.”
