Springboks vs Ireland Players Ratings at the Aviva Stadium

The Springboks delivered a powerful 24-13 victory over Ireland in Dublin which ended a long wait for success at the Aviva Stadium. Here is how the players performed in a match that showed intent hunger and quality from start to finish.

1. Boan Venter – 8
Venter produced a statement performance by sending Tadhg Furlong backwards in several scrums. Any doubts about whether he belongs at this level should now be gone.

2. Malcolm Marx – 8
Fresh off being named World Rugby Player of the Year Marx delivered another masterclass. He made nine tackles one clean break 22 carry metres and went 15 from 18 at lineout time. At 31 years old he looks ready to dominate for many seasons. He also walked away with the official man of the match award.

3. Thomas du Toit – 8
Du Toit has owned the number three jersey this season. He bullied Andrew Porter at scrum time and backed it up with thirteen tackles.

4. Eben Etzebeth – 6
A steady no nonsense outing from the veteran lock. While not at his fearsome best he still disrupted Ireland at the ruck and remains vital in the build up to the next World Cup.

5. Ruan Nortje – 8
A tireless 80 minute shift loaded with thirteen tackles and strong carries. He continues to grow into the role fans compare to Franco Mostert.

6. Siya Kolisi – 7
Led with clarity and kept the pressure on Ireland. His presence at the breakdown was felt throughout.

7. Pieter Steph du Toit – 7
Delivered his usual work rate and physicality. A century of caps is well within reach.

8. Jasper Wiese – 7
A bruising display from the back of the scrum. He finished with 32 carry metres nine tackles and a turnover.

9. Cobus Reinach – 8
In sublime form he scored an important try and kept the tempo high while chirping every chance he got.

10. Sacha Feinberg Mngomezulu – 7
A mixed bag at times but his talent is clear. His line break and try early in the second half was electric.

11. Cheslin Kolbe – 6
Quiet but reliable. A late charge down almost produced a try.

12. Damian de Allende – 7
Powerful as always he punched holes in the Irish defence and provided momentum.

13. Jesse Kriel – 6
Went about his work quietly with strong defensive contributions.

14. Canan Moodie – 8
Dominant in the air strong in contact and growing into a complete winger.

15. Damian Willemse – 8
Scored acrobatically early and stayed composed under the high ball. Linked well with the attack.

Subs – 7
The bench did not produce their usual fireworks but they maintained control. The replacement front row along with RG Snyman and Kwagga Smith ensured the Boks finished strong at scrum time and across the field.
