The transfer saga surrounding Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has taken another twist, with the Swedish forward reportedly eager to push through a move to Liverpool before the summer window closes.
Liverpool’s search for attacking reinforcements has been well documented following the high-profile departures of Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez. While seven new signings have already arrived at Anfield, Jürgen Klopp is still eyeing a marquee forward — and Isak has emerged as the preferred choice.
The Reds tested Newcastle’s resolve earlier this month with a £110 million bid, only to see it rejected. Since then, no second offer has been lodged, with Liverpool privately believing that Newcastle’s £150 million valuation leaves little room for negotiation.
However, reports from The Athletic suggest Isak’s stance could force the Magpies’ hand. The 25-year-old is said to have no intention of playing for the club again and has been training away from the first-team squad. In a further sign of his intent, The Times claims Isak has vacated his Tyneside home, which has now been put up for rent.
Isak has been a key figure for Newcastle since arriving from Real Sociedad in 2022, but the current standoff casts doubt over his future. Should the stalemate drag on towards the September 1 deadline, Liverpool may revisit their position, banking on Newcastle softening their demands to avoid holding on to an unsettled star.
For now, Liverpool’s transfer focus remains fluid — but the clock is ticking, and the Isak situation could yet become one of the defining stories of deadline day.
