Jack Grealish is poised to undergo a medical with Everton on Monday as the Premier League club moves to secure the England winger on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The 29-year-old has been widely expected to leave the Etihad this summer after falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola, who notably left Grealish out of his squad for the recent FIFA Club World Cup.
Everton have emerged as front-runners to sign the £100 million-rated star, who reportedly earns around £300,000 per week. The Toffees are eager to complete the deal and bring in a player with vast Premier League experience.
Last season, Grealish made 32 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City but started just 16 times. In the Premier League specifically, he was in the starting XI for only seven matches, highlighting his reduced role in Guardiola’s plans.
Grealish’s career at City began in 2021 with a British record £100 million transfer from Aston Villa. Since then, he has featured in 157 games, scoring 17 goals and registering 23 assists. His trophy cabinet includes three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, the FA Cup, and significant contributions to City’s historic Treble-winning 2022-23 season, as well as UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup victories.
Earlier this year, Guardiola openly expressed his desire for Grealish to recapture the form that helped City lift multiple trophies. “Do I want the Jack that won the Treble? Yeah, I want it,” Guardiola said in January. “But they have to fight. You have to prove every day that you deserve to play.”
With limited opportunities at Manchester City, Grealish now faces a crucial chapter in his career. The loan move to Everton offers a chance for regular game time and a platform to rediscover his best form ahead of the next stage of his football journey.
